BikeTrial Malaysia

Bringing Observed Trials to Malaysia

I'm needing a little bit of advice here.
First my back ground: Rode and raced mountain bikes since 1994. I've stopped racing for many years now but I like riding more aggressive all mountain now. But lately have less time driving to the trails and so I've been thinking of trials as I can just have fun outside my house.

I've done my home work on the internet and it seems like mod is a good place to start. I was very much wanting a stock as I ride mtn bikes and that I can transfer the skills learnt and apply it on the mountain trails. But it sure looks like mod is the way to go for a beginner and I'm quite it's a good place to start.

I've found a new Monty 219 Kamel and I'm set on it. I understand that this is a good frame to start with but... Are there anything more I should be aware off before purchasing?

Are there 2nd hand bikes out there for sale? Just as in other bike category, there is better value in 2nd hand bikes if you know what you're doing....I sure don't. This is such a niche sport its difficult to find anybody to chat with on this.

I'm 39 this year (if that matters) and I live in Shah Alam.

Thanks, Andy.

Put my money down on the Monty 219 Kamel a couple of days back. So I'm stuck with it and looking forward to learning more. Will collect it in a few days time.
Hi Andy, glad to hear that you are gonna take up trials full time :-) So far the bike trial regulars are Aris, Syarul and me. Aside from you, Daniel is also just starting out in trials. Aris and Syarul rides in Shah Alam lake garden pretty often. If you are interested, we all can always meet up :-)
Hi Jack,
I can't say it's full time as I will still ride my mountain bike every weekend. It would be great to catch up sometime for some pointers. From what I've read, I will need to work real hard on balance first. Quite excited to learn....I'm a kid at heart! ;)
LOL... I know exactly what you mean... I was and still am as excited to learn a new trial technique... hahah. The real fun is in the learning :-)
Andy lets ride! :)
Bro, you wanna go Singapore and watch a BikeTrial Competition on Oct 17th? A group of us maybe going together.

Hey Jack,
Thanks for asking but I can't make it. I've got work this oct. btw, I haven't been on my bike. I seem to have pain in my left wrist after every ride. I 've tried different stems, bars, and positioning but to no avail.
Regards, Andy

OUCH! When I first started, I used to get pain on my elbow and wrist joints. It is not the bike... we just need to get use to it :-) Really one! Now, all I get are muscle aches... LOL.

The pain is quite severe and it lasts for up to 2 weeks after every ride. I'm dumbfounded...can't seem to fix the problem. DANG! I l love trials but have been off the bike for all this months because of the pain.

Did you feel the pain in your wrist for a week plus after every ride when you started?
LOL... yeah!!! I even blogged about it. How I went and see those Chinese doctor to get treatment.. LOL in the end it was just me. We should meet up lah bro. :)

Yeah, we should meet up. Is there a way to send a private message?. I don't want to put my phone number on a public forum. Cheers!
Andy
