How did you guys involved yourself in BikeTrial riding?

Hey all !! Let's share how did you guys involved in this sport? Riding trials is fun and reasonable sports!! =D.. A sport you can Show Off anywhere,anytime,anyhow..instead of removing sweat and keep body fit..healthy life begin!!

So, let's me introduce first...
I have seen bike trial riding in Youtube where my dad discovered it..Mostly from action of Ryan Leech..My first idol!!! Firstly, I do not interested with this kind of riding..
In September 2008, my father and little bro started riding trials. They called me ride together but I ignored..Lol.. They acted the trials movement after they watched the Youtube videos..When I saw them riding, don't know what kind of riding their doing..bmx,skateboard style????LOL..I think I am still new there...

One day, when i was sleeping..in my dream..i dream about I was a real Pro trial rider that ride in my school basketball field..many people watched what I am doing..I did 360 spin and many style in my dream..LOL...until now I cant even do 360 spin..!!
In the morning when I woke up, I rushed to ride trial style using my street bike..
I was doing hopping and balancing..I wonder how hard to do that..It was really hard for a beginner like me!!! Lol..

Riding trials is really really FUN !! especially when mastered a skill !! Real FUN !!!
That day..my new life begun of riding trial and ride with my dad, little bro....
A family of biketrial riding, it's more fun that way!!
This is how I involved myself in BikeTrial riding....ThankYou very much!
Hope to hear from you soon!!

Cheer !

Wow... from a dream! LOL. Here's mine...

I was on a company holiday trip to Krabi, Thailand sometime in 2008. While in the bus from the airport to the hotel, one of my colleagues (MTB cycling enthusiast) took out his PSP and showed us a video montage of various MTB disiplines. I believe the video was called Krank 5.

Anyway, none of us have heard of BIkeTrials and all of us watched this guy balancing his rear wheel on a rail and then jumping over to the next rail. I was amazed and kept asking my friend who the rider was... you guessed it, its none other than Ryan Leech... LOL.

Then when I came back from the holiday, I immediately started googling for Ryan Leech and found out what this cycling sport was called... LOL. I had no idea that this kind of riding was even possible. Absolute control of the bike!!!!! After that I asked my friend for the video and watched it over and over again. And before I know it, I started modifying my cross-country bike, practicing track-stand, hopping, etc.

As my training progressed, I was looking to buy a proper trial bike (together with Sean... LOL) and constantly in search of fellow Malaysian BikeTrial to ride with. Later through a mutual friend in Singapore, I met Syarul... LOL.

That's when I created this site together with Syarul, to hopefully promote BikeTrials as a mainstream cycling sport in Malaysia. And because of BikeTrials, I have already made so much new friends in Singapore and Malaysia... LOL.

Wow !! I can now feel how you involved yourself in bike trial riding..btw who is the first trial bike riding between you and syarul? =D

Syarul started when he was studying in the states... he will have to tell his story of how he started in BikeTrials... LOL.

Btw, in my post above... the Krabi, Thailand trip was in 2007 not 2008... :-)

Here's mine:

Hahas i actually was searching how to wheelie on youtube after i saw my cousin do a wheelie on his Giant mountain bike. Then while i was watching the video, i saw a video called thinkbikes-mountain bike trials video. I was curious and watched that video. That was the first trials video i watched. I remember thinking ; "I will never be able to do that in my ENTIRE LIFE!!!" but anyways i googled it and found jack's blog (not his one, the wildgeeks one). Then i came to konw chaosinduction.com and attitudebikes, where i got my first monty. Since then i have been training hard, and found out that doing the tricks in the thinkbikes video was not that difficult after all!

But my family is SO not interested in biketrials. My dad got me a trial bike only because i kept messing up the gears and bursting tubes on my GT mountain bike. My mom and sis cant even RIDE a bike......

Oh yeah the first trial video is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXApPXKzmDw

Hey Nico!

What a great story you have there! Nice to know the whole family is riding trial. Wish you guys are living down here. Well don't forget to promote BikeTrial in Pahang area!

Well I have been riding for 7 years. I had a rough time learning because back then I was the only rider who ride BikeTrial in Malaysia. Learning the basics was hard plus I had to study for my degree at the same time. Not only i had to learn about balancing on my bike but had to balance study and riding at the same time.

I started off with my MTB Schwinn which i modified to a trial bike. Some of the parts like Magura rim brakes and bash guards i bought it in Singapore. That's where i met Mr. Ram which was the BikeTrial Sinapore President and who brought the sport in Singapore. From there also he introduced me to Walton which is a good friend of mine until now and he took the position of Mr. Ram as the President of BikeTrial Asia and Singapore.

Learning back then was not easy because people call me crazy all the time by riding with no seats. Now the new riders like Jack, Helmi, Wyatt are very lucky because I can show them the easy and fast steps to learn the basics. When I furthered my studies to Master level then I had more work and study and rode a bit but not like I used to.

Riding in groups will make you learn more faster compare to riding alone unless you know how to overcome the obstacles. Riding Trial is not to show off but it is more to make you more discipline. In Europe and Japan there is a lot of BikeTrial school and the question is why there is no school on downhill, road racing, crosscountry, 4x? BikeTrial is sport where you use your mental and physical and its not about hopping to one rock to another but focusing more on the rider with the obstacles. Riding urban and technical Trial is very different.

Try it out and you'll know what I mean.

Cheers!

Hi guys,

WyWy here. I was surfing the internet regarding Dirtjumps and street.......youtube saved me all the trouble when I came upon RYAN LEECH!!!! I was totally....you know.....shocked at what I was seeing man! I thought BMX bikes are the only ones doing stunts not MTB.....well, shall I say trial bikes. it got me hooked and I started googling more and more until I found wild geeks, from there Jack Hii comes in. History from here on man!

Wyatt AKA leech wannabe OR Ryan wannabe OR Ryan Leech wannabe.

A little bit about myself;

Hey there!

Nice to meet you Wan! Well basically we will call up each other and then we discuss between us before the riding day in terms of where to meet up. 50 years old? Wow. Biketrial in Malaysia does attract a lot of older guys eh. I wonder why. Hmmm. No offense to all but I was just curious. We Biketrial dudes here have no prob with age or religion status because we are here to ride trials! and to share! Isn't that right Jack & Wyatt? This weekend plan to meetup but not sure where. Any Ideas Jack? Wyatt? Wan join us! fo me usually I will ride in tasik Shah Alam coz that is where my training ground is. To be exact is the Laman Budaya. Give me a call first just to make sure I am there in the evening :)

Its great to have a new member. Welcome to biketrial!
